Obituary of My Clock

After 15 years, a faithful instrument, one that its Chinese manufacturers claim was forged of quartz, has met its demise. After being dragged across the United States, from the frigid land of its founding to its massive land of opportunity, & then up to the land’s westernmost contiguous corner, it sat oft neglected in favor of its inferior digital colleagues. Then, at last, its faithful core, whose material may forever be disputed, lost its religion, that concept which we call time. So it went, the last true physical tie to my childhood that I truly cared for. ...

Horrible Poem

Why is Yellow Green? Why is yellow green? Yellow’s creativity is just bubbling, so when I sit down to reimagine spring, why is yellow green? I want yellow to be yellow so my heart can be mellow, and so my mind does bellow, HONESTLY, PLEASE JUST BE YELLOW! Not gold, orange, or flaxen. Yellow is yellow & I wish people wouldn’t hate it so Oh, I’m not done. ...

Early Summer ’26

The hatred that embitters and darkens the hearts of those we see in the world is discouraging. Disagreement, once the forum for the advancement of humanity, has become a place where people compete for supremacy. It’s woefully inept at capturing. the needs, desires, & sapience of those who debate. So, is it time to change track? Have fear and shame so weakened our ability to air our concerns that speech needs a revolution now? How do we deal with the fact that debate, the fire behind democracy has become a firefight? Weekend Check-In, 2026/2/2

I’m not sure what Advanced Placement® Human Geography is supposed to teach you. To the contrary, what I am sure of is that it’s not supposed to teach you to discard the notion of original thought. However, after a semester in this course, a timely breakup, and the just as timely introduction of a book to my life, I’ve discovered just this. Original thought is the ultimate fiction of man. The goal of a human is to make it impossible for others to forget them, while the goal of humanity is to make it possible for others to forget us. This is, as a highly educated intellectual would say, ‘hella contradictory ideology.’ Thus, I’d like to put forward the idea that each individual is, in the large scheme of things, meant to be forgotten. Their ideas are intended to be turned into the mass amalgam that is human consciousness. Globalization is the inevitable path of the world, and now that we are here, it seems the minds of the many have not caught up. We must discard the idea that our ideas are meant to be ours, forever, and give all credit to the mass consciousness (if it must be god then ugh, fine).
