After 15 years, a faithful instrument, one that its Chinese manufacturers claim was forged of quartz, has met its demise. After being dragged across the United States, from the frigid land of its founding to its massive land of opportunity, & then up to the land’s westernmost contiguous corner, it sat oft neglected in favor of its inferior digital colleagues. Then, at last, its faithful core, whose material may forever be disputed, lost its religion, that concept which we call time. So it went, the last true physical tie to my childhood that I truly cared for.
